Not necessarily. Aesthetic procedures do not require a referral from your doctor. General surgery, bariatric surgery and other weight loss therapies may need a referral. Please feel free to call our office or contact your insurance company to find out if a referral will be necessary.

Please bring a referral letter from your primary care doctor (if necessary), along with the following documents:

  • Driver’s license or government-issued photo ID
  • Insurance card
  • Any relevant reports or imaging scans (x-ray, MRI, CT scan, etc.)
  • List of any medications you currently take
  • A completed version of the appropriate form (download here)

We encourage patients to take a few moments to jot down any questions before their appointment. Bringing a list of questions with you can make for a more productive and satisfying appointment!

Recovery time depends on a number of factors, including your personal health and the procedure. For major procedures, you can expect to take approximately two weeks off from work. After many cosmetic procedures, like BOTOX®, you can return to work immediately. Dr. Mithani will discuss recovery expectations with you prior to your procedure. You will receive detailed recovery instructions upon discharge.

Anesthetics used in surgery have the potential to effect judgment and driving skills for up to one week post-op. Also, you may be prescribed pain medication that interferes with your ability to drive. Your doctor will provide you with more information specific to your procedure.

Dr. Mithani will provide you with post-op exercise recommendations. Depending on your procedure, you may be referred to a physical therapist for help regaining strength and range of motion.
